The upscaling engine uses the latest ESRGAN-x8 model, which was trained on millions of high-resolution image pairs to reconstruct fine details that simple interpolation cannot recover. It works exceptionally well on photographs, illustrations, and compressed images, recovering textures, sharpening edges, and removing compression artifacts while scaling up resolution.

The background removal model uses a multi-pass segmentation approach that handles challenging cases: hair strands, transparent objects like glasses, fur with complex edges, and subjects photographed against busy backgrounds. The result is a clean alpha-channel cutout that looks natural rather than the hard-edged masks produced by simple matting algorithms. The OCR engine supports 100+ languages including Arabic and Hebrew right-to-left scripts, Chinese and Japanese character recognition, and table structure detection.
